I didn't even have to guess, I knew all three would knock a hole in a cast iron skillet.
A lot of people seriously under estimate the kinetic energy in handgun rounds, particularly the .45 ACP.

I'd bet the shock of even the single first round would upset its crystalline structure enough that a .22LR would go through it.  I'd only go ten bucks on that bet, though.

On Clint's video - does the movie show you where he got the plate from?  Doesn't really look like cast iron. 

As for Marty, I have no idea what that furnace door is made of or how thick it is. 

I would also be curious if there was any significant difference is you hit the skillet the other way around.  I doubt it. 


One Important thing to learn from those videos:  Ponchos provide Excellent spall protection!   =D

In the video that I posted, I found it interesting to see rather large, nicely rounded holes. The difference between 9mm and .40 was surprising. I wish the guy would have mentioned the ammo that he used.

Been a long time since I've seen that movie, but IIRC Clint's character hid out in an abandoned mine and found/scavenged that plate from either a mine cart or some other mine-related scrap.
