5th graders and fish
« on: May 25, 2005, 06:12:03 AM »
On our local news last night, they had a blurb that caught my attention.

Some of the area schools have a project throughout the year.  Earlier in the year, each 5th grader was given a fish to raise.  They were kept at the school, but the kids fed them and watched them grow.  Now, during the last week of school, the kids fillet the fish and have a fish fry.  It is an annual thing around here.

I had to laugh at it because I can imagine how angry parents could get at this in other parts of the country.

Shortly after, I had to go and visit www.savetoby.com  I thought there was some irony to it.

No point to this post other than maybe giving someone else a laugh.
Does anyone else have kids do something like this?

In 4th grade, we raised butterflies from the larve stage.

We didn't eat them, though.
