But it reduces the "majority" in the House.

Only if the replacements aren't Rs.

Yes, it could be a problem, because those House seats will have to be filled by special elections, and there's absolutely no guarantee that a special election will go to a Republican replacement.

In the Senate it's a bit of a safer prospect, as the Governor of the state whom the cabinet nominee represents selects the replacement. You obviously don't want to select someone from a state with a Democratic governor.

Some states have a rule that the appointed replacement be from the same party as the person who resigned.

And, yes, there are no guarantees, but Gaetz and Stephanik are both from reliably red districts.

So there's hope for Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger if a GOP office holder leaves somewhere and the governor is a D?
Trump won in 2016. And again in 2024. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Neither Trump nor his advisers are dim-witted enough to just snatch up Representatives, willy-nilly, without considering the balance of power in the House, or the likelihood of their being replaced by Dems.

I think you're right, but I'm not certain.  If Trump is actually listening to people like Susan Wiles (and not just making controversial picks to "own the libs"), we are probably okay.

I'm not saying they're necessarily right to view each of those House seats as safe, but Trump clearly wants to get some things done. There's no reason to think he's being careless with the House majority. Even if he's taking a bit of a risk, it has to be a calculated one.

That goes double for the Senate. Even if he views a 3rd impeachment as grist for the mill, he definitely doesn't want impeachment charges to reach a Dem-controlled Senate.

Yup.

Rubio will be replaced by DeSantis. Pretty likely that appointee will be good.

Gaetz and Stefanik will both be replaced via special election and both are from reliably red districts where its unlikely (though not impossible) for a democrat to win.  Same for Waltz (national security advisor).

All his other picks are not currently in the House or Senate. 2 are sitting governors, but that isn't a DC issue.
