She was explaining how she'd be one of the unquestioned leaders in the new and coming socialist utopia that was going to be unleashed on the United States.

She didn't like it much when both CK and I explained to her that she'd actually be one of the first to be murdered by her own cadre.

The dewy-eyed party idealists are always the first ones to go when the inevitable strongman seizes and consolidates power. "We're the ones who will lead the (chosen geographic location) into truly workable socialism!"

They're so cute when they finally realize what Mao's "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun" really means...

Funny how Trump is now an issue in FOREIGN elections.

A lot of the chatter from foreign (and many domestic) sources about U.S. actions under Trump reminds me of the basic premise of a book . . . Atlas has decided to shrug.

I know that is what Stalin did.  I never looked at Mao.  The new dictator doesn't want anyone around who might challenge them.

Stalin was one of the cadre who followed Lenin. When Lenin died, it wasn't fully clear who was going to follow him. Stalin had been maneuvering behind the scenes for a long time, building his power, and finally emerged as top dog in the late 1920s. That's when people started dying.

Mao was different. He created the Chinese Communist Party, so he was always in charge. He didn't have to clean out a lot of other people who also had potential to claim the throne.
