On a slightly related note, I was just watching a 37Gb movie file (Prestige Blu-Ray) from my hard drive. Damn, these things are CPU intensive.

Now you know why gamers love those 10,000 RPM hard drives and $500 video cards.  grin

I do have two of those nifty 10,000RPM drives actually, yeah. Also, I am ashamed to admit to spending so much (more than $500) on my graphics card. It is pretty much my only vice (well, sloth, oh and greed . . . and gluttony) however, so I forgive myself for it.  grin

Don't the 32-bit versions of Windows (specifically XP, not sure about Vista) have a limitation on how much RAM they'll actually access? Something like 3GB max?

And some apps that run under Windows are even more limiting?

The reason I bring this us is that I've got a machine at work with 4GB, but there seems to be about a 3GB limit when I'm running certain simulations . . .

Yeah, they can only address so much, including the video RAM as well, I think. I just like being future proofed for a while.
