No one. The outcome is uncertain.

In some ways I think you can look at Alien v. Predator as something of a prequeal to Alien and Aliens.

OK, lessee just going from memory here.  Alien has what, acid spit and that tooth covered thing that pops out its mouth.  Predator, otoh, can become invisible, has infrared and some other high tech devices and I forget what weapons.  I think my money is on Predator.

That alien/predator hybrid from the last scene looks interesting.

I liked the movie too.The story line made sense in an odd,tin-foil hat,kinda way.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.  He could deliver a lethal blow to predator with that if he connected.  But Predator has the plasma shoulder cannon with a targeting system is his helmet.  And (I looked it up), the helmet can filter through five visual settings, infrared, ultraviolet, thermal imaging, low light amplification, and air density pressure. There's no place to hide from him.

Aliens and Predators meet, make up, make babies, and the Alienators, lacking any of the embarrassing aggression of their perky forebears, finally bring utopian socialism to America.

That was one of those movies that was very bad (although I hear it would have been much better if the studio hadn't forced so many cuts on the final product) but at the same time fascinating.  The "watching a train wreck" cliche.

*** SPOILERS ***

What I liked about it was the underlying concept:  that the Predator race searches the universe looking for competition, for prey that can challenge them.  They found it in the Alien race, and installed an Alien presence underground in Antarctica that the Predators would use as their private playground, a testing ground, a rite of passage.  Once every 100 years the Predators would activate the Aliens, and a few Predators would arrive to challenge them.

One-on-one, the Predators were superior to the Aliens, but they showed some sequences where a few Predators were taking on dozens of Aliens, and occasionally the Aliens would win.  But, the Predators were shown to be the ultimate warrior/hunters who were not afraid to stack the odds against themselves.

The makers of Aliens 3-5 failed to grasp something that Ridley Scott and James Cameron knew all along; you can't create suspense by threatening characters nobody cares about.

In some ways I think you can look at Alien v. Predator as something of a prequeal to Alien and Aliens.

Though only God knows why they made it a prequel. The Colonial Marine Corps is the coolest military organization in movie history, and the best part about the two AvP games were the Marine chapters.

I enjoyed the Alien bits more.  Running on walls (in fact, so often I never let go of anything and eventually forgot which way was down), eating people to rebuild your health, scuttling around as a Face Hugger, and so on... the Predator bit was the most boring, IMO.

The sad thing is that Alien 4 had potential.  The original script was written by Joss Whedon (Firefly / Buffy etc..).  Unfortunately the studio took the script and savaged it.  The original version he wrote is floating around on the internet.  I've read it.  It would have been a MUCH better movie.

True that, the Alien chapters were pretty bitchin'. I never mastered the "fall off the ceiling and eat the guy's head before you hit the ground" maneuver, but by God I tried. And yeah, the predator episodes were just "stroll around and school anybody who walks by with the plascaster". Though I suppose you could take it up a notch if you did the predator-style honorable thing and only used your blades and your spear to put the hurt on bugs.

But I always loved the marine chapters because they were scary as hell, and when I think Aliens, I think scary.

The first time I played the AVP2 Marine demo, I wasted a couple dozen rounds on more than one occasion because the motion tracker pinged on doors closing or opening (aside: AVP2 did the motion tracker up right). Scared the hell outta me.

AVP makes decent Saturday afternoon filler.  Unlike the truely MOST STUPID move of all time about some idiotic British dude with bad teeth who was frozen...

It is mindless action, with the trappings of an original story/backstory.  Nothing more.

It looks to me like whatever surgical or chemical alterations she had done to her face made it a bit too tight.

I really enjoyed Alien. It was creepy on a psychological level. Aliens was great! Alien 3 was bleh. Alien 4 was interesting, but Winona Ryder kind of sucks the potential out of every movie I've seen her in, except for Heathers. Predator was awesome. Predator 2 had moments, but Danny Glover?!? I like AVP because I miss the creatures so much.

Alien and Aliens were great movies, and so was Predator. These movies had really cool alien enemies in them. So it was strange to see someone mess up so badly and make a crappy film with such awesome baddies. One thing that didn't help was that AVP was what, a PG-13? The new AVP2 (coming sometime soon), is going to have an older age rating, I believe. Also, I have heard that we will see a Predalien...
