"contact attempts that would end with local police doing a welfare check "

How will Seren react to that, and how will they react to Seren?  Will the neighbor be able to keep Seren calm or remove the dog?

I know dogs pretty well, and Seren might be feeling protective with you  incapacitated (or dead.)  Animals only seem dumb because they don't talk.

Not to overdo it, but that occurred to me, what with the current "reports" about LEOs shooting the dog.  Note the quotes.

(This thread branch might be of general interest anyhow.)

Well, pretty soon the only flags that won't be controversial or symbols of white supremacy/insurrection will be the Pan Africa flag and the rainbow flag.

I need to start flying my Gadsden flag again.

It will match my Gadsden license plates (which, to be honest, I'm shocked that the *expletive deleted*ing Democrats haven't tried to get rid of in Virginia).

I actually get mine from Amazon, even though there are a couple of really good Asian markets in the area.

So I'm curious where the terrorist sympathizing squad members are going with, "We will remember this in November, Biden!"? Are they gonna vote for Trump?

Well, I see that the "An Appeal to Heaven" flag is the new monster. I might need to switch from my Gadsden Flag for a while.  =)

My favorite "picture is worth a 1000 words" comeback to the woke morons:

Ben, have you ever tried cooking with gochujang?

I've never heard of it. The "spicy, savory, sweet" sounds good though.  =)

Is it a popular sauce? I wonder how available it is in BFE Potatoho?

My neighbor, a young lass who just graduated from college a few weeks ago, bought $20 of Doge while she was under the influence.

It went crazy for a short window and that $20 became around $12,000.

I suggested that she liquidate it. She waited for a slightly higher bump. It became worth about $20!!!

Don't take this the wrong way, but it is to be hoped that Seren leaves before you do.   I assume you have contacts who would know if you passed away, and if you died before your pet, that would be rougher on the pet than the other way around.

I would love to have a pet, but the thought of me croaking and leaving the pet unattended before my body is found is too much for me.

Not taking it the wrong way at all, Terry.

That's played on my mind, as well, at times.

At this time it's not as much of a concern because of my job. Because of my clearances, if I'm (or anyone on the contract) unaccounted for for more than 4 hours during a work day it triggers an escalating series of contact attempts that would end with local police doing a welfare check and the key holder for my house (a neighbor) being contacted to gain entry to my home.

But yeah, when I retire? That's going to be a real concern if I continue to have companion animals.

Ben, have you ever tried cooking with gochujang?

It's a Korean pepper paste that's an absolute staple of Korean cooking. Along with the chilies, there's rice and some other stuff added and then it's fermented.

It's generally really thick, but the spice level can vary widely on what you want.

I decided to give it a try a year or so ago when I saw some videos about Korean cooking.

I hit on a quick dinner "stir fry".

I saute a couple of ounces of shrimp, then set them aside. Then I boil a ramen packet and at the last minute add some broccoli and cook just long enough for the broccoli to either heat through (frozen) or just start getting soft (fresh).

Before that I've prepped the sauce by mixing the ramen packet with a couple generous tablespoonsful of gochujang, 2 tablespoons of dark brown sugar or honey, some soy sauce, some rice wine vinegar, and some sesame oil. I mix that together really well and let it sit for 10 or so minutes for the sugar to completely dissolve and the flavors to marry.

When the noodles and broccoli are done I drain them well, throw them into the pan the shrimp was in and heat over high to drive off most of the remaining water and finish cooking the broccoli. Then I throw in the shrimp and the sauce, heat it through, plate it up and eat a spicy, savory, sweet, dinner.
