Well, I'll put it this way: a bailout of the porn industry makes MUCH more sense than the Big 3 bailout.

Why?

1) The porn industry actually sells a product that people are willing to buy (giving actual value to the consumer)

2) Bailout money to the porn industry would NOT go to pay overbloated union wages

3) The porn industry has actually done R&D on things that have become of benefit to mainstream society (movies at home? Thank porn. Looking forward to actual VR? Porn leads the way).

Also, to add to what you said, just like the space program, porn drives demand for better technologies we all use - the Internet, for instance, though developed by DARPA people, had been supported by the porn industry for a LONG while.
