Doing the Happy Dance!
« on: March 24, 2008, 01:55:32 PM »
It's oh-fi-shul.  70 lbs.  Gone.  Yippeee!!

On the downside, I go in for a lipid panel next month.  I don't mind needles all the much, but I'd rather not get stuck unless absolutely necessary.  Ick.

I guess now I'll show that horrible third picture I talked about on the other weight loss thread.

Brad

Me.  275 pounds.  48 inch waist.  19 inch neck.  Size 16 ring.

And Me.  205 pounds.  38 inch waist.  17 inch neck.  Size 14 ring.

It's all about the pancakes, people.

How tall are you Brad? What is the ultimate goal?

Congrats on dropping a medium/large sized dog.

5'10", about 1.7 meters.  In all honesty I don't have a goal in terms of weight.  My only goal is to eat right and live a lot healthier lifestyle than I was a couple of years ago. The weight comes off because of the lifestyle changes.

A couple of questions.

What did you do? Was it all Cardio or did you throw in some lifting as well?

And do you have any problems with loose skin? I'm working on dropping sound poundage and am trying to build muscle while sheding the fat, hopefully I won't have to deal with any loose skin. I lift about 5 times a wekk with cardio throw in at about twice a week.

Anywho, great job!

I don't do "cardio" or try anything specific.  My aim is to stay active on a regular basis, no matter what kind of activity.  Most of the time that means walking three miles a day a minimum of five days a week.  3.5 to 4 MPH on a 5% incline.

On the dietary side it's nothing special or "hip", just balanced, sensible eating habits.  Portion control.  Keep track of calores.

I'm lucky that I tend to gain weight proportionally and not in any single area like some folks so no loose skin issues.  I can tell if I had gotten any larger I probably would have.

That's interesting.  We're the same height.  My waist is two inches smaller.  But I weigh about twenty pounds more.

Congrats!  Once you get started, it's easy to keep the weight loss going.

I'm the same height, but I weigh somewhere around 183lbs at the moment.  3 years ago, I was 215lbs.  I lost most of the weight the same way you did.  My goal is to get down to the low 170s.

When I graduated HS in 1991, I weighed about 140lbs. Shocked

I'm 6'1" and 235.  I want to get back to 200#.  I was walking till the snow flew and it got really cold and windy.  I've gained about 15#.  I'm back drinking soda's again, about 3 or 4 a day and being a layabout as I'm retired.

You're an inspiration for me to get back to walking and watching what I eat and knocking off the sodas and starting to drink water and making up some Crystal Lite instead.

It's all densely packed muscle, my friend.  Table muscle, of course, but muscle all the same.

i was starting to get pretty heavy myself, and was staying active... couldn't figure it out.

Turns out I had a thyroid gland that wasn't doing it's job. Hormone replacements, same active lifestyle, and i've been dropping weight as well. It's nice to see pants getting loose again.

Good job, and congratulations

Good work.

It seems that after getting married, having two kids, and a bunch bidness travel, I have slapped on quite a few pounds.

I am beginning a similar transformation, the first step being changing what I eat.  That has already shown dividends.  Next step: eating less & more exercise.
