Fall Pics.....
« on: September 21, 2005, 07:43:23 AM »
Well, Ladies and Gents, tomorrow is the first official day of Fall.  So, I'd like to open the Fall Pics thread.
Of course, here in Utah, the colors are starting to turn and the weather is cooler.
Lets see 'em!

Patience, patience.  The big color change is still upcoming, all we have right now is random trees that are not green.

I might take a series of pictures, at weekly intervals, of my local churchyard. All from the same spot if possible. Might make for an interesting project.

yes! stuff like that is very cool. maybe you saw hte article about ansel adams photo?
astonomers predicted the exact time for the moon position and people re took the photo.
normally you never know which night will have things in the best spot, great idea to take a photo over several.

like the sunset, if you want a really good one, you gotta take like 20 over an hour

Good to see ya still snappin' Riley Smiley

Well - fall here is really only just beginning so - it'll be a week or two before we have a lot of color - then will post something.

Just to compliment the earlier moon pic let me repeat the one I posted in 'summer pics' ... cropped out from a full zoom tripod shot.

wow sweet shot that's a great zoom- the biggest thing i notice is the "man in the moon" kinda disappears in the larger mares on the left side- you dont see that until you start getting closer.
OH NEAT- notice in my photo the larger dark spot is rotated more to the right

Dude, where do you live?  Our mountains are almost orange here.  The maples and aspens above about 5000' have almost all turned.

Getting more and more so, but still too much green left.  The Keewenaw Peninsula of MI, BTW.  Hopefully the scenery will be competely colored by next weekend.

But now that I have gone back to these awful film cameras, I gotta refigure out my picture posting strategy.  Gotta find me a friend with a scanner, I guess.

I'm glad it's fall somewhere in this hemisphere. It was 102 today in Dallas. The only thing turning colors is my lawn.

It's not autumn here yet. Bit of yellow on the trees, a very small amount, and we had a nice weekend. Air is a bit colder perhaps, but that's because the sky has been clear (in England!) at night recently.

Autumn is a nice word. I start the autumn burn tonight, I picked up a dustbin incinerator yesterday, if it gets nice and dark and the dustbin gets real hot, it starts to look like an afterburner.

The oddest thing happened today...it rained.

As you can tell, I like B&W and wide format photos...

It only took me an hour and a half to point the camera at the same place the lightning was occuring. Damn hard to track something that unpredictable. Wink

Ed - your patience was rewarded with the lightning pic - excellent!!!

I found a mantis in the remains of our squash plant earlier today - as befits the species he did stay quite still for me while I got his portrait!!  Nearly looks summery still but no - it's fall alright!

Leaf colors are slow coming this fall - been so dry half the leaves look more dead than alive!  Another week or so maybe we'll get some more but won't be max'd out this year,

OK, I hate film cameras.  At least, for trying to share pics.  These pictures are actually decent, but the scanner and me didn't get along.  And the scanner picks up finger smudges way too good.  Some good shots of the Big Dipper and the Northern Lights, and a shot I like of a sign at the duck marsh.  Actually having quite a bit of fun with the old SLR, wish I had the cash to dump into a digital.

EDIT: They really do look much better than the scan would have you believe.  Maybe I gotta get me one of those scanners that scans the negatives.

Dude!!!!!!!! the NL are SOO awesome, thanks a million for that-
if you also have a digital, maybe try taking photos of the photo, may work better than the scanner, or at least worth a try....(actually at this point most digi cameras are better res than scanners are)

does it really look that Green in person? ? amazing.

They wern't quite that bright green in person, that is jsut a result of leaving the shutter open.  There was one point, though, that the reds and blues were mixed in, and that was really cool.  Also, when they start dancing, it is hard to get a picture or movie to show that.

Fall? I think we missed that one here. We went straight from road construction to winter. But, that is normal for this part of Montana.

I can't take credit for this one....

As soon as this front moves through, I bet there will be some great shots of the snowcapped Wasatch range.  6-12" + above 7000' today!  If that ain't fall, I don't know what is.
