Actually, it is his construction with "looses" that is incorrect.

I respectfully disagree.

He should have said:

"Even if Brown lost the race, he would send a resonating message to Blue Dog and moderate Democrats."

This construction would be appropriate if Brown had considered joining the race, but elected not to because he was certain he would have lost. (Loosed?)

or

"Even if Brown were to lose the race, he would have sent a resonating message to Blue Dog and moderate Democrats."

Whereas this version would be correct if discussing the pros and cons of Brown's entering the race, before he has done so.

However, if the race is on and the election has not yet been held, BridgeWalker's version is the correct way to phrase it. "Even if Brown loses the race, he will have sent a resonating message to Blue Dog and moderate Democrats."

One of them said, Do you want Brown to return us to Bush economics? And I was thinking, "You mean the economices where everybody was maiking money? Nooo, why would I want that?"  ;/

What a looser you're, Fly's. =D  I put that in there because I often see it used incorrectly for "whining".  Then there is "noone" for "no one", and... well, just a bunch of other stuff that gets my panties in a knot.  It makes sitting uncomfortable sometimes.
