DW just got back from the local school where she teaches a couple Adult Education classes, and she talked to the Superintendant/principal who just got back from Helena:
1) Health insurances premiums are going up 30%
2) The Feds are cutting back the money they give to the schools, to use that money to pay for "healthcare". (aren't you glad they passed the bill so now we can start finding out what it says?
) The district will have to take that out of the retirement funds to start with, but they will probably have to close one or both schools in the county. Trouble is, there's a law that kids can't be bused more than an hour each way.
Some "change" but no "hope" at all. Lots of angry people, though
