Obamas snubbed by England's Royal Family

Not that I give two figs for the pomp and pretentiousness of the Royal jetsetting scene...

But I thought Obama was supposed to be our foreign relations savior and redeem America's squandered reputation for social grace, once elected.

Oh, well.  Maybe he'll make it better by sending them a Zune filled with "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-lot.

I'm chuckling more than I should.

payback for the gift he gave?
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Let us jump into Mr. Peabody's Way Back Machine and return to late in January 2008 when our current president used his keys to enter the White House.  One of the first things he saw was was a bust of Winston Churchill in a prominent position.  He couldn't abide it so he instructed his little people to return it to the Brits.  The Brits for their part politely explained the bust was a gift to the people of America.  The President was firm and demanded the bust begone.  So Winnie is now in the residence of the Brit ambassador to the US presumably waiting for Obama to leave.

Obama waved his famous finger in the face of the Brits and they in turn responded in a polite and dignified way as they normally do.

You're spot-on with that, Waitone.  I forgot about the Churchill bust incident.  It wasn't huge nooz, but it was huge as far as diplomacy between the UK and the US is concerned.

There's a HUGE difference between merely relocating the Churchill bust to a more remote corner of the White House or even boxing it and putting it in storage... versus returning a Gift of State between war allies for the past 100 years.

The more I dwell on it now, the more shameful it seems to me, and the more embarrassed I am that I forgot about it in the first place.

There's just SO MUCH to be embarrassed about, with this President. :'(

Not that long ago obama was giving a address to the un and obama made David Cameron the British PM jump through hoops to have any air time with him.  From day one, obama has had it in for the Brits.  I don't really know why.

Yep, he has a huge anti-colonial anti-western civilization chip on his shoulder based off his father's beliefs (read Dreams of my Father, it's all there...) and his experiences as an American ex-pat with his mother and step-father in Indonesia. He was the "rich American" to all of his peers there and his step-father's position with the oil company, OTOH, because of his native step-father the Soweto/Obama family was not in the top tier of the foreign ex-pats and oil executives.

And historically speaking, if you think western civ. and colonialism is the worst scourge the world has seen,  hating the English more than he hates the U.S. would be consistent.

Thank God the man's unique family background, and integration as the token minority which allowed him to coast through leftist academia and then Chicago politics means he's largely a dilettantish lightweight. Someone with his belief set AND was nominally competent would be a nightmare.

I can't wait until we have a president that has a bust of Sir Winston on one side of his desk and one of Ronald Reagan on the other.

So does inbreeding.

That's a really interesting observation and theory, AJ. I don't think I've read it before. Is it original with you? Just curious.

Dinesh D'Souza wrote a very long article in a similar vein.

Obama's evident hatred of african colonialism and anyone who was associated with it is not a new theory.  It has been around for a while.  Only since D'Souza book appeared has it gained serious consideration as a framework for understanding Obama.

Here is the first article gaining credibility.  D'Souza's book was obviously under construction when it appeared.

The others have it. I never read D'Souza's book, but people commenting on that or riffing off of it is where I probably put that together.
