Nearly everyone seems to revise drive time down and MPG up.
"Oh, I get 15MPG with my 1-ton Ford with a 460 under the hood and a 4.50 rear end."
Right, downhill with a tailwind.
"It takes me 15 minutes to get to work."
Yeah, if you only count the time from the moment you get on the highway until you get off the highway and discount both the city streets, the time from door to auto, and auto to desk.
"It takes me 5 hours to get from Dallas to Little Rock."
Really? It takes me 6 hours driving 5-10MPH in excess of the speed limit with only one short stop for fuel & bio break.
The immediate cause of my post was a colleague telling me "The drive on the ice-slick highway takes 20 minutes and moves at around 30-35MPH." I then did the identical drive, drove mostly 35-40MPH, and it took me 40 minutes.
