Made it through 22 rough and cantankerous years before mine went kerfluie.  Should have got out early....    =|
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Another vote for RIA 1911's here.  I have 3, 2 of which have multiple thousands of rds through them. (like mid 20's to mid 30's)  The value can't be beat in the sub $600 range.

There are some good reports out there, about the Regent-brand 1911s made in Turkey. I think they run about $400. The major complaint I've heard is that the grip frame is not radiused along the front strap. They say it feels like holding on to a 2 x 6.

I thought Fistful was the one who usually led things off topic, not refocused the topic. Were y'all just picking on him unfairly in that other post? :)

So I have these on my list to look into with regard to 1911s:
Springfield
RIA
Delta Elite
Regent

Question is, how do I lay hands on each of them to see which I like better? Limited gun stores in my area.

Hey Dogmush - can you post a pic of your new family member? The Dragoon? Love to see it.

Fistful isn't refocusing the topic, he's refocusing the thread drift. The topic is dogs and wives. ;)

Much as I would like to lay claim to the title of Chief Thread Derailer, there's way too much competition for that spot. Around here, I could never win. As for being picked on unfairly, well, that is my appointed task.  =)

Just saw this link on another thread and thought I'd share it with Dogmush, BlueStar, 230RN, and Fistful regarding 1911s. I haven't had a chance to read it all the way through yet, but will. http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/2011/06/08/read-this-before-you-buy-your-first-1911/#.TfKHfEQHi6k;email Thread is here: http://www.armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=29987.0

And yes, Monkeyleg, thread drift, not topic. Note to self: be more accurate or Monkeyleg will take me behind the woodshed.

Yeah, THat article vastly overstates the expense and tinkering needed for a reliable 1911.  It's almost like he works on them for money or something.

I'll try and get a pic of my Draggon when I get home.

You'll notice that we've all pretty much hit that thread.

And the 1911A1 is a positive drift.
 ;)
Other drifts may be more ... disturbing  [tinfoil]

Fistful is blamed for everything. You will notice the APS catch phrase is 'It's fistful's fault'. Even our pirate hunting ship is named for this.

Well a lot of them are virtual memes. Considering that everybody knows there aren't really any girls on the Internet.

Ah, now we know the source of the Fleshlight... Was that a feasibility study/trial run?

Full on fem-bots come to market, and we'll go extinct. Save perhaps some survivalist clans of Subaru driving women who flee to the forest, having perfected Parthenogenesis just in time. However, the T-904's a.k.a. the "Melissa Ethridge series" will infiltrate their camps with ease I suspect...

Oh well.  =|

I only ask that the AI's remember us, and carry on the work of exploring the Universe.
I promise not to duck.

Same here with my ex-SWMBO, 22 years.  And I wish I had gotten out early, too.
The second time around I married me a Southron woman, and she's keepin' this Oregon boy on the straight-and-narrow.  Going on seven years, good and strong.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

STI is a brand you really want to look into...most of their line is orientated to competition models, but "standard" style, lower cost models are available (Spartan and Trojan)

I hypothesize that it will be easy to detect your kind due to the number of spelling errors you make while trying to seduce us....

....we'll destroy you, of course....but after the seducing is done.....  ;)

You have hit on a favorite bar bet-the existence of the male Lesbian.

The isle of Lesbos has a population of over 90k.  It is reasonable to assume usual slight bias towards females, so there are somewhere around 45k genuine male Lesbians.

I'll have the imperial stout, please.
