I don't have a problem with hunting down the predators that took off for parts unknown, but they could have waited 5 minutes for zoo personnel before starting the turkey shoot.
According to Jack Hanna, there were Col. zoo personnel there who tried to use tranquilizer guns on them. The tigers reacted badly and came after the darter - thus, cops shot approaching animals. Then they gave up on the darting plan, because this all happened 30 minutes before sunset, and they didn't want the animals taking off for Lord knows where in the dark. It is a damn shame for everyone involved. Crazy people do irrational things.
