Statement sent to the media:

“We are extremely saddened by the unspeakable tragedy that occurred last week in Newtown, CT, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and to the entire community.

Out of respect for the victims and their families, during this time of national mourning we have removed all guns from sale and from display in our store nearest to Newtown and suspended the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of our stores chainwide.

We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this terrible tragedy.”

I only bought my 10/22 from them, never any ammo as they are so expensive.  I guess I will never buy anything from them again.

Crap.  This was one of the only decent sporting goods stores near me and they had some good sales.  

They are living up to their name.

Dicks is a great example of a FUDD store...plus their horrible service makes for a fitting name...i will continue with not doing business with them

Reportedly, Adam Lanza tried to buy a long gun at Dicks but was unwilling to wait due to CT requirements.  Due to the many inaccuracies in reporting by the news media, I don't know what is true or not.

I buy CCI SV 22 ammo there.  That is the bulk of my money spent at Dicks in the gun department.

Damn. They just opened one where my folks live and I was going to visit it. I'm generally not a big boycott guy - the only company I've been actively boycotting for years is Levis - but this kind of company reaction is what does make me boycott a business.

I've always seen Dick's as an upscale Dunham's, which pretty much means I can buy the same or similar stuff from Dunham's cheaper.

Who the hell does CTD think is going to be their customer base with a move like this?  They didn't exactly get the duck hunter and clay buster customer base in the first place... they're deliberately riling up their zombie-slaying, EBR toting, LBE buying customer base.
