Find Benghazi

WaPo article on Benghazi now that we capture one of the perps.  (Hiding in plain sight, giving interviews, not very smart, but I digress).

Drag the pin to where you think Benghazi is on the map.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

476 miles.
At the scale of that map it like playing pin the tail on the donkey with lawn darts from 100 yards.

Some of that error is monitor resolution on my end, I should have zoomed in closer.
I kind of have sort of almost but not quite been there, sort of. Visual targeting range, anyway.

300 miles. In other words: I knew where Libya was, and I knew it was a coastal city. I wonder how hard it would be for me to pick my hometown from a blank map of the world and a small interface.

I didn't cheat or zoom.

357.  Goofed and ended up about 50 miles off the coast because I didn't zoom in.

I almost ended up in Morocco, the pin was jumping around as I dragged it.

Ditto for me. I knew it was the eastern side of Libya and near the coast. I messed up on where the border with Egypt was.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I am just glad inside the country of Libya.  If I knew it was on the coast, I would have done better than 269 miles.

I knew where Egypt was, and just kind of guessed how far west to go along the Mediterranean.

476 miles.

About the same here. For some reason I was thinking it was inland and south of Tripoli, instead of east along the coast.

64 miles away.  i'm claiming "good enough" as I did not have my reading glasses on.

stay safe.

Me too. I was a tiny bit south. I can pretty much pick out where Tripoli, Tobruk and Benghazi is.

I can draw the line of death across the Gulf of Sidra without any problems also.   =|
