I like that stock.  I get tired of some of the adjustable stocks that are flimsy looking.  The rail is cool too.

That looks a lot like what I have planned for my version of a DMR....   Except I'm likely going to go w/ 6.5 Grendel just for the extra legs.   The plan is for it to be a 1000 yard gun.  There's a range here that has a 1000 yard firing line, and I really want to learn to make hits out to that range.   Considering I did 400 yards w/ my Garand w/ irons (prone, slung), I feel comfortable that I can do it.   Plan is for a 22-24" barrel, probably go w/ the Magpul PRS stock, but otherwise it's pretty much gonna look like yours....  Should be a helluva lot of fun.

Sounds like the glass ought to cost more than the rest of the rifle.

AJ, I have a heckuva hard time justifying spending more on the glass than the rifle....  But you're probably right.   Most likely the glass will be in the 7-800 range.   Considering the barrel alone is gonna run about $500 (there's a local barrel maker here in Portland that apparently makes a dang good barrel.  And matches a bolt and barrel - fella by the name of John Benjamin).....

500-800 should be completely doable with decent ammo in 556, but yeah, i'd want something else for 1000 .

My goal is to have reasonable success out to 600 .

Then, there's this guy:

I admit to having a hard time with that too, what "proper glass" costs. I intellectually get the clean room conditions, all the precision parts, hand-assembly, the vapor deposition on the lenses, the special process to produce the glass in the first place, then grind it, and then put it in something that will retain it's zero and withstand field conditions and recoil...

But on an emotional/gut level, it's very hard to justify it when you look at the scope and it's just a "small part" of the whole rifle. I think that it's like NFA firearms, once you get over it and bust your cherry on the first good piece of glass, you are more comfortable with it.
I promise not to duck.

Look at the Scope that Fitz has on his rifle. SWFA makes quality scopes at a much lower price than you'll find in other brands for what you get. The SS's start around $300, they make  scopes with Apochromatic lenses for about twice that price.

There have been some reviews GUSHING about that scope, comparing it favorably to scopes costing 3x as much. I should have an idea of how it is friday

I've got a SS fixed 16X on my .50.  It's my 1000yd gun.  I really like the scope.  Not a ton of bells and whistles, but good glass and repeatable adjustments.  It also holds up to the recoil that disassembled a ".50 rated" chinese scope in less than 20 rounds. I want to get another SS for my DMR AR-15, but I haven't decided on the power.

They are good glass.
