Yeah, lot's of meh in that trailer.

Jokes not funny, trying to make up for it with special effects, and just a remake instead of new story. Perfect recipient for crappy movie.

I can hardly wait till that hits free TV so I can not watch it.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Perfectly encapsulates my thoughts.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Actually once it's free, I may well watch it.

Just to see how bad it is. Maybe it'll be so bad the badness will itself be funny, probably be the funniest part of the whole movie. It'll be the cinematic equivalent of sniffing that old gym bag you find in the back of the closest, still stuffed with unwashed gym shorts. You already know it's bad, but on some instinctual level you wanna see just how bad.

Seeing the one girl get slapped silly in the trailer might be worth watching a few minutes.  ....for free and just that scene.

Looks meh. Could be wrong, but meh.

X-Men: Apocalypse looks good, ditto Captain America: Civil War. Suicide Squad might be good, might be bad. Gods of Egypt looks absolutely terrible but pretty.

I'm looking forward to The Man Who Knew Infinity and Criminal Official.

The Ghostbusters reboot does indeed look terrible.  :P

Although because it's women and "because gurl power!" reasons, and that there's four of them... it might be good to take my four daughters to see it if only for the superficially benign agitprop reasons.

I absolutely hate these "diversity" remakes, as well as the whole thing with replacing male superheroes with female superheroes (Thor, for example). It's not anti-woman. I have no problem with, and enjoy the female superhero characters, but please, make them their own person, don't do the replacement thing in the name of diversity.

As an example of the right way to do it is the James Bond Franchise. Make Idris Elba the new Bond not because he's black, but because he'll simply make an awesome Bond. Also, keep Bond a man. If they ever make Bond a woman, even the most kickass actress you can imagine, it will ruin the franchise.  If you want a female agent, create a new character and a new franchise. If it's done as good as the Bond franchise, I'll look forward to watching it.

I saw they're bringing "24" back, and while they're not using a new actor as Jack Bauer, they are basically doing a Jack Bauer replacement with a black guy who will absolutely not be able to pull off the type. The white guy equivalent would be casting Jim Parsons (Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory") in the roll. Excellent actor, totally not right for this kind of roll. In this case they are turning it into a "hip hop 24". But I guess that's the new audience that's ruining TV for me.

Comments on the youtube trailer mirror what's being said here. Doesn't bode well for the movie's success.

Yes, I too am excited about Idris Elba as bond. Because he plays a great bad-ass who happens to be black, not because he's a black that happens to play a good bad-ass.

Although I will say Craig deserves credit for saving the franchise. One can argue if he's better than Connery or not, although it's apples to oranges, since Connery was tasked with a bit more of the wry humor Bond, but Craig's Bond is definitely the truest to Flemming's written description for Bond, his motivations, and character.

They tried for a colder meaner damaged/jaded Bond with Timothy Dalton, but it didn't quite come across right, it was more whiny and pissy than "cold killer".

Pierce Brosnan... Meh. He was okay.

Yup. Everybody has their Bond fave, but Craig (even though he apparently doesn't like the role anymore) really saved things, at least for me, with the Darker "Casino Royale" Bond. I have never been a fan of Bond comedy.

Ditto . . . and it's been going on for quite a while.

* Starbuck in the 1st Battlestar Galactica vs. the reboot series.

* "M" in the Bond movies.

* Kona in the original Hawaii Five O tv show vs. the current reboot.

* Jimmy Olsen in that laughably bad Supergirl TV series.

* The guy who plays the Human Torch in the latest Fantastic Four remake.

I especially dislike it when it takes a wholesale rewrite of the backstory to make the character fit.

I'll have to disagree with Starbuck in the BSG reboot. She gave a much more complex honeybadger/psychotic/PTSD/damaged but still the "funny scoundrel" than Dirk Benedict ever did, or the 1980's would allow. I don't think it was so much of a "diversity casting" to be PC, but that those characteristics were much more contrasty and jarring in a woman.

And then bringing back Richard Hatch as Tom Zarek the ex-terrorist and machiavellian politician was a great contrast to his clean-cut (and sometimes boring) hero portrayal of Apollo in the original series, letting him chew up the scenery a bit was also awesome.
I promise not to duck.

Idris is the new Bond. Well, I'll scratch another franchise off my list. Bond is white, always has been white.

Also, re:  the X men movies, I will not watch any movie that Bryan Singer is at the helm. He IMO ruined the Xmen. The movies are crap.

What bugs me is they can't just make a new movie with an original story.  They have to remake the origin story.  There are decades of comics to steal stories from.
