safe space irony
« on: March 04, 2016, 10:00:03 AM »
Just read yet another example where college students needed a safe space to recuperate from some perceived insult to their fragile psyches.  This made me wonder; how safe are the “safe spaces”?  I’m not talking about physically attacking these poor snowflakes.  That would be pointless.  I’m wondering what would happen if a small group of people just went in, sort of like the Occupy protestors, and started asking dangerous questions such as “what is your problem with free speech?”  How would the space be returned to a safe condition?  Would they call the police?  Run away?  Pee their pants and cry?  My money is they would get mad and attack the intruders questioning their right to be outraged.  Any guesses?

"<>" = stage/blocking directions

<protagonist stamps foot> "You just don't get it!  You don't understand, do you?  Damned Republican!" <grits teeth, shakes head in frustration>  "Oooo, you!" <goes to cry on someone else's shoulder>  <hugwave passes through the room>

If they want safe spaces, why don't they go the hell back to their dorm rooms?

Oh, you mean it's not really about safe space, but about creeping incrementalism?

I too have had thoughts like this. A bunch of normal libertarian/right people with a strong Honeybadger streak should march in en-masse and just scream and chant how worthless and weak the safe-spacers are, and keep showing up and doing it repeatedly everywhere across the nation they can legally do so.
I promise not to duck.

Problem with that, though, is it would likely be treated as a hate crime with conspiracy charges thrown in on top, and would cause a lot of trouble for some otherwise very sane people whose only crime was to disagree with the dialog of the precious, fragile flower society.

I think if you recorded yourself, and the group was committed to not saying anything that degraded a "protected class" based on gender, race, age, sexual orientation, or physical disability.. it would be pretty bulletproof, at least from a standpoint of the law.

I keep wondering why some James O'Keefe types don't go into "safe spaces," sobbing about how they saw an inter-racial lesbian couple holding hands, and signing up voters for Bernie.

It's a shame there isn't still a draft.  School could throw them out and their draft boards ship them off to lovely safe spaces like Parris Island, Fort Leonard Wood, and Ft. Benning.

It would be classified as psychological crime. Sure you didn't say anything untoward...

Every time I hear "safe space," I picture an old West style fort, made from big heavy logs.  With me and good friends inside.  With lots of firearms and ammo.  And heavy weapons.  And beer and steak.  And bacon.  Now that would be a safe space.  A big happy safe space.

I wonder what would happen if that group of chanters (from above) would go into the safe space and chant:  We love Hillary...Feel the Bern...Black Lives Matter...kill the police...gimme free college and room and board...over and over and over.

Are there any women inside, or are they the ones you're safe from?

If I had access to one I would go in to a safe space, and put a picture of on of those viking memes that say "How must it feel to be so weak mere words hurt you?" on the wall.  Under lexan.  Screwed to the wall with one way screws. And glued down with 5200 or some such adhesive.  >:D

I took the hit for you.  It's fainting goats.  They faint at loud noises.
Except the one in the video faints whenever he leaves his shed, or "safe space".  Quite appropriate.

the lack of hard upbringing has all but killed an entire generation of Americans.  Molly coddling little boys and girls, and extending their childhood into their late twenties, has destroyed them.
What we have here, is the exposure of a total failure of parenting over the past 40 or 50 years in America.
