THR? What's that? I seem to remember it dimly....

I've just about forgot about THR; I think this place stands on its own, and I like it better than THR.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

Nick is bringing back the database history that's been in the ether -- more of these are bound to show up over the next day or so. Just sit back and enjoy the nostalgia... :)

I think I commented in this thread.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Nostalgia...does aspirin help with that?

This appears to have risen from the dead!

Never mind, I'm a retard.  I didn't read past the first page and thought that the thread from 2005 just popped up to the top of the topic list.  Its fistfuls fault.

It is kind of weird realizing how long ago I signed up for THR and then here when the RT was eliminated.

I'm member #104 here, 785 at THR.

tempus fugit
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

The positive example of APS moved me to try expanding the bounds of THR as well: just added Ethics of Liberty subforum.

Positive example?  I must not be trying hard enough...

OK, on a more serious note, recall that the banschwerk had to be taken down from over the doorway and used in a vigorous manner on a few folk to keep 'em from fouling the nest.

Wow, a prediction from March 03, 2005 that APS would die out?  Uhm, Guess we can call that one a miss.

Personally, I avoid THR like the plague.  I used to post over there, I donated cash and computer equipment.  My sole hope is that the THR mods and their way of doing things stays over at THR.  Call me strange, but I like the vibe over here at APS better.  Seems like the people are generally more polite, less internal warfare, and I like the variety of posts even if not all of them are directly RKBA related.  Fostering a community of pro RKBA folks, in my opinion, seems to have worked out better than the more ... regimented THR.

To each their own.

Anybody got any recipes for a mixed feeling?  Here's one of mine:

1 pint of boiled regret
2 pints fear
1/2 tablespoon of mild ennui
2 medium-sized joys, steamed and plucked
3 1/2 ounces of flaming desire

Mix regret, fear, and ennui in a medium-sized sauce pan.  Bring to a simmering rage, and add diced joy.  Stir occasionally, over medium heat, until the joy is softened, and the mixture is a dull sepia in color.  Pour into a small casserole dish.  Add desire, and light before serving.

And if anyone can make sense of that, you may be madder than I.  Seek professional help.

What's a chindis?

Quote
A chindi (Navajo "ch'íįdii") is the ghost of the Navajo tribe believed to be released at dying breath. The chindi is almost always considered to be an evil force, avenging some form of offense to the person. The Navajo believe that contacting such a spirit can cause illness (Ghost Sickness), or death. It is also believed that a chindi can be used to cause harm upon someone else. Dust devils are referred to as chiindii and are said to be these spirits. Clockwise dust devils are good spirits and counterclockwise are bad.

Uh, a line from Airplane, a Star Wars reference, and somehow it ties in to Ron Paul?  ???

The battle droids in the prequels say "Roger, roger," when acknowledging a command. In the one film don't the battle droids attack the wookies?

Wrong movie.  I was referencing Leslie Nielsen/Kareem Abdul Jabar:

Airplane! was a comedy from the get-go.  Lucas's last three, though laughable, were not comedies.
