I read a story about today's Sugar Bowl from some online sports reporting thingy.

It was written and posted today.

It described yesterday's events in New Orleans as a "tragic accident."

For real?  That's just an insane choice.

He also brought an AR with no sights or optics.  Because that's how GBs run their rifles, totally.

Just speculation on my part but maybe plastic Magpull or similar sights melted away? Yeah I know, not GB

I will buy that if you can find me a picture anywhere on the internet of a Green Beret anywhere in the world in the last 10 years with no optic on his rifle.

Note my last comment. Does seem weird to me.

Remember speculation from some that maybe he was shot then the CT told to drive itself to the hotel. I wonder if the data from the CT would tell, I would think it would. Elon said they had telemetry from the CT, it should show whether or not he was driving.

I would also note that we have footage from the moment that truck pulled up in front of the hotel till the moment it exploded.  There is nothing in there that remotely looks like the flash of a ported Deasert Eagle discharging.  Now perhaps they are just really darkly tinted windows.

Ut the more details that get released, the less adds up.

It's not uncommon for cameras to miss the flash of a gun if it occurs between frame scans. Occurs quite often in Youtube gun videos and most security cameras will have even worse frame rates

Sure it could.  And maybe Noone heard the shot so that's why there aren't people reacting before the explosion.

There's just a lot of little things about this that are weird. One or two in inconsistencies in an otherwise cohesive narrative? Sure, the world is a messy place.  But this is way more than one or two, and more keep coming up as details are released.

*IDGAF how many news anchors want to opine on echos bouncing around the Strip, I know what an M240 sounds like.

Sounded like a pig to me, while the mess was still going on, with someone livestreaming video.

I'm confident in saying that the only way you're going to see that is if it's a picture of the GB breaking down his rifle for cleaning and/or maintenance.

Big tangent, but it was only because of a mention on conservative Fox News that I was reminded that Fort Liberty is actually Fort Bragg. This *expletive deleted*ing DEI renaming bullshit is destroying basic information and references.

Couple of years ago in another board I was on someone suggested that one of the military bases be renamed Stepin Fetchit...

Holy sweet jeebus did that cause a ruckus!

Entertaining aside:

I have steadfastly refused to call it Ft. Liberty.  It's hilarious because one of the unit's whose equipment I maintain is a SOCOM Detachment.  All their maintenance requests go back to Bragg for their Maintenance weanie to put in the system.  Apparently the leadership up there is death on dead naming the Fort, and people routinely get written up, and here I am some Army Reserve Warrant Officer with zero *expletive deleted*s to give sending "Reply to All" emails with things like "Have the guys up in Bragg cut the work order and send it to me."

I got like 4 terse E-mails from Bragg before I took the Det Sgt down here aside and pointed out that they are Active Duty, and I am spending USAR resources to help them out, and his HQ could chill the *expletive deleted*ck out, or they could find the OTHER shop qualified to do small arms and NODs maintenance in Tampa. (there isn't one).  So far they have chilled out, but it's only a matter of time before some O4 up there reads another e-mail of mine.

I still call them Benning and Hood too.

Reports his wife left him six days before. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14246183/Cybertruck-bomber-texts-ex-girlfriend.html
Okay
So we got his family saying he was pro-Trump but his wife's postings show her being very anti-Trump which might explain the break up but she was claiming he was cheating on her which could be just an excuse IDK.

Edit: Misread, his first wife is anti-Trump. The above wife is his 2nd

Going back to the NOLA guy.  I guess we just let news crews wander around crime scenes now?

I also note the Baofeng charging dock and Tiny SA spectrum analyzer.  I have a Tiny SA, very useful for localizing coms and emissions, although his is still in it's box.  Kinda weird.  The question is also begged: If he was working alone, who is on the other end of the (missing) Baofeng?  Why does a lone wolf need or have coms?

Even more tangent - I know zero about Army Reserve / Army interactions. So if an Army O4 tells a Reserve WO to call it Liberty, you can tell him to get bent, or just ignore him? Or is there some funky connected chain where the O4 has to go through someone on your side and not order you directly?

He might have been using the Baofeng to monitor police traffic. Mine takes all the local emergency channels, though the commie cops here all encrypt their traffic now.

There is "chain of command" every soldier follows and "assigned post" he/she is responsible for.

If an officer outside of my "chain of command" requests my assistance, I could fulfill that request if it does not interfere with my "assigned post duties".  If it does or I am not able to fulfill that officer's order, I would elevate the matter to my superiors.

"Army of one"  =D

Yeah, something else in the mix that not making sense with the FBI flat out saying he acted alone and basically don't you dare question it.

More weirdness with the Green Beret. While this makes him sound like a scummy playa, it sure doesn't sound like someone who is imminently going to commit suicide.

https://twitchy.com/warren-squire/2025/01/03/las-vegas-cybertruck-bomber-guy-messaged-ex-girlfriend-alleged-n2406058

More and more, it seems like Las Vegas should be the primary focus, just because of how strange it all is. Dogmush's mention of the guns, a GB who was trained by world experts using the crappiest possible IED components, the pre-explosion "suicide", the truck parked outside to explode rather than driving through what I understand to be the unreinforced plate glass front to the building, or at least closer to it. Almost every "wrong" thing a terrorist could do to screw it up was supposedly done by someone specifically trained in insurgency and guerilla tactics.

EDIT: Oh, and also, though I haven't seen it confirmed, I've seen it reported from multiple sources that his body was burned beyond recognition, and the current ID method is via his military ID, found in the vehicle and legible, even though he burned to the point they are apparently having issues getting DNA.
