I thought it was cool too. Looks like max range is 68m, though, which seems a little tight.
According to something my LGS posted this morning, there will be three models, so maybe the higher end will have longer range:
DRS Thermal
In addition to offering the night vision DRS, Holosun offers a thermal option with 3 models available. The standard model offers 2 reticle options with 1024×768 resolution at 50 FPS. As you move up in the models, you’ll have up to 5 thermal image modes and can increase thermal sensor resolution by 33%. The DRS Thermal uses the same MRS as the night vision model, as well as daylight/night vision settings and window size. Battery life on these ranges from 10-20 hours depending on model, and will be a popular option for coyote and pig hunters.
With my Super Hogster thermal, I can easily make out cattle over 1/4 mile away. However for what I would use one of these combo sights for, that 68M might be okay. Mainly to do "threat scans" for a bump in the night without having to switch between a thermal and the carbine.
