So, what's for dinner?
« on: September 15, 2011, 04:47:55 PM »
I have spaghetti fixin's and that's what I had planned but it just doesn't sound appetizing. Sick of seafood (I can't believe I just said that) and all the normal fare. Lamb, pork, meh. Chicken last night.

Inspire me. I'm actually leaning towards (now that I think about it) something with curry.

a while ago a made a really good curry chicken thing. we had some curry-sauce-in-a-jar (don't know how you'd go about making that, i don't do much curry stuff), rice, chicken, onions, and mango, and i whipped it together into a pretty good dish.

i basically sauteed the chicken and onions together and then mixed in the sauce. then i cut up the mango, made some rice, and threw it on a plate. it was pretty good, i must say. the mango really did it.

Are you cooking, or going out?  Cooking... stick with the 'sketti.  Going out?  Thai.  Pad Thai with pork, nuclear heat.

One of the advantages to living in Seattle is a quite large Indian and Pakistani population, primarily in the dot-com industry. So not only is there a proliferation of good Indian restaurants, you can now buy Indian ingredients at a lot of the grocery stores. I have become a real fan of the Patak's curry pastes in a jar.  We pull out some chicken to thaw while we are at work, come home and saute the chicken, some onions, throw in the curry paste and coconut milk, add some dried or fresh fruit and some cashews, and serve it over basmati rice.  Yummy, and takes a pretty short time to cook.

Some reasonably good sushi, miso soup, edamame, and salad.

Tonight, Red beans and brown rice with andouille sausage. Maybe dice up a sweet onion as garnish. Wash down with a cold beer or two.

Ended up making spaghetti.

All the Asian stuff sounds good. The beans and rice as well. I have never had edamame, but I see it frequently in the frozen vegetable aisle.

No kiddo tonight so I'll probably just crack open a can of soup.

He (1) wants Tacos, so I'm making Tacos again tonight.

He's staying with me this coming week because the WINO is out of town for a business trip.

Looks like Wednesday is Lawdog's Chicken Soup for sure.

I gorged at a pig roast for lunch, But for some reason I am very hungry 5 hours latter. Maybe I have a tape worm?
I was disappointed because there was nothing lift for a piggy bag to go. I guess we need to get one bigger that 120lbs next year.

Last night, lightly blackened Mahi Mahi with shrimp and a creamy garlic shrimp sauce ladled over it.  Rice and bunch of steamed veggies.

Tonight, home made chili, with chopped up fresh vidalia onions and crumbled up cheese on top.  Thick slabs of Ukrainian bread slathered with home made blueberry jam.

Last night, filet on the grill, steamed asparagus, baked potato. It was tasty!

Tonight, chile rellenos, rice, guacamole. Leftovers will be tomorrow night's dinner as well.
