(sw IL-ANNOY near St. Louis) Two different Circle K stations, less than 5 mi. apart, are $0.23/gal different in price.  One is $3.999 and the other is $3.669.
A few other stations are $3.669 but most are $3.979-$3.999.

In the meantime, haircut is "investigating price gouging". Maybe he should start with all the taxes his state charges on every gallon.

Quoted for truth.

The reason gas is so high in CA, NV and other places isn't because the gas companies hate them (well, maybe they do a little) but it is the taxes and regulations they place on gas that costs the manufacturer money which get passed on to the end user. But you will never hear them say that part out loud, "price gouging" is a more believable excuse for the unwashed masses.

I was in Central Pennsylvania this weekend. Paid $3.995 for regular, nearly 50 cents a gallon more than in either Maryland or Virginia.

Pennsylvania used to be on par with Virginia price wise. Then the *expletive deleted*ing Democrats started spiking fuel prices. At one time around 2005-2010 or so Pennsylvania had the highest fuel taxes in the nation (now they've dropped back to third, but apparently the Dems want to boost gas taxes to $1 a gallon plus over the next year or two). Higher than California, even. And the roads in Pennsylvania STILL suck.

I took my powerboat out for the last time this season on Saturday, I paid $4.299 for 91 Octane No E. My joke is that I'm going to take the boat out and spend $40 for a lap around the lake.

$3.85 here right now. It was $4.40 when I was in Baker City, OR a few days ago. They must have added some new state gas tax over there recently. In the past it has only been ~20 cents more in OR than in ID.

We've been hovering around $3.29 the last couple of weeks in Hickory.

Here (east of Dallas) the low stuff is running $3.29.

Talked with my brother the other day.  He lives just south of Napa Valley in Calif.  He said the gas there is at the $7.00 mark - but didn't specify what grade that was.  I'd guess the high test ethanol, that's what he normally ran.

And yesterday it dropped to $3.19.  I guess I spoke too soon.

A couple of stations near me dropped in to the high $3.40s yesterday, down between 3 and 5 cents.

Crude oil prices have been dropping pretty hard this past week. Right now WTI is sitting at $82 and change a barrel, down over $10 in the past week.

I did a quick trip about 30 miles away today into occupied California to a wide spot in the road on the way to Death Valley, Shosone, CA. The prices posted were : 7.639, 7.7739, 7.939 and 7.959 for diesel.  They are trying real hard to stay below 8 dollars a gallon it seems.

Prices have been slipping a bit here in Virginia, as well. Not much, but a few cents here and there.

It's been over 4 for a while here in Idaho. With the way people drive around here, I've been hoping it goes up to 8 or 10. Sometimes I think the best thing that could happen to this country in the long term would be a prolonged oil shock.
