One runoff candidate was CEO of the Chicago public schools, corrupt and poorly run even back when I lived there.
The other runoff candidate was a union boss in Chicago's teacher's union, a truly odious organization.
Don't expect to see much of an improvement in the Windy City.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

She still got 17% to the top two's 33 & 20% so she almost stayed in the race.

I'm cracking up that she's placing partial blame on Time magazine for not putting her on its cover.

I'm surprised she didn't throw in her sexual orientation as a reason for her defeat, as well.

I am surprised the articles even mentioned the names of the two runoff candidates.

I feel sorry for the white guy, running on law and order, in Chicago, is he crazy? Lawlessness is the culture of Chicago, he will fail miserably if elected.

The black guy, well Lightfoot 2.0 but 2x worse.

Considering Vallas and Johnson, Chicagoans should be afraid.
Johnson is an avowed marxist and Vallas is too closely aligned with the Chicago Teachers Union.  the CTU was one of the biggest supporters/instigators for the recently passed "Amendment 1" that gives union bosses more power that the state legislature.

The most liberal of the two won
And the first thing he wants to do is raise taxes.

Democrat Brandon Johnson is elected as Chicago's new mayor: Former union organizer WINS tight race while calling for new taxes and more social programs - after Lori Lightfoot lost re-election

Indiana should mandate state workers pack boxes and drive trucks for any businesses leaving Chicago. Any business that stays deserves everything.

It seems like at this point, 90% of the people who live in Chicago want to live there. As long as it doesn't cost me any bailout money, I'll just sit back and enjoy the show. Yay for socialism.

Chicago elections usually have two choices - bad and worse.

Chicago chose the latter - again.

I no longer feel sorry for the people who live there, and I thank my lucky stars I left for good decades ago.

The voters will be really upset when they learn the mayor they just elected is one of the blacks.
