Well, with that conviction, she becomes a prohibited person. That ends her career of an armorer for life.  I wonder if she knows of that effect in all firearms matters.

I've often wondered how many "liberals," "leftists," whatever, are actually prohibited persons and don't even realize it.

If she got the max, I am really curious what that means for the man that pulled the trigger.  He ought to get at least that much.

On Terry's post above, I agree her career as an armourer is over, but it probably was before the conviction too.  I am curious how closely Hollywood follows the prohibited person laws. I have been ever since Marky Mark decided to be an action star.  There's lots of DUI felons in Hollywood too. And they get handed guns all the time.

Oh, there's a joke that goes, "I feel so much safer now that Martha Stewart can't have a gun any more."

On DUIs, a lot depends on when and where the violation occurred.

Over the growing noise about drunk driving, the penalties have gone up from, say, "$100 and ten days" upward and upward until they had to determine technical "legal limits" as to how drunk you really are.

Not that I'm "for" drunk driving, but I wanted to point out that the misdemeanor-to-felony continuum on it depended a lot on place and date.

I don't know if it's real either, but it's quite possible. The nutjob that confronted Baldwin does crazy *expletive deleted*it like that all the time for clicks.

Just how obnoxious does somebody need to be to make Alec Baldwin a sympathetic character? If I were in his shoes, I would have punched her like she was a man.

Could be an act or she is really that crazy or a mix of both.

This could be interesting if true

Quote
Hannah Gutierrez Reed is requesting immediate release from prison as the "Rust" armorer prepares to seek a new trial.

Gutierrez Reed's lawyer accused the prosecution of withholding "bombshell exculpatory evidence," which would have led to a "fundamentally different trial and likely a different outcome," according to court documents filed June 27 and obtained by Fox News Digital.

The armorer's team claimed the state did not disclose a report that found "unexplained toolmarks on critical surfaces of the trigger and sear" of the Pietta 45 Colt revolver replica used on the Western film set. Gutierrez Reed's attorney, Jason Bowles, pointed out that the marks were not "the result of the damage incurred during the FBI’s impact testing." The marks also "do not appear to be original manufacturing marks or use and abuse toolmarks based on [their] irregular orientation," according to the report.

But still got to consider there were live rounds mix in with the blanks and that rests on her shoulders so even if true she's still guilty

The state "buried this information" and it was "never disclosed" to Gutierrez Reed or her legal team, Bowles wrote.

Looks like Baldwin is getting off scott free.

Quote
In a dramatic turn of events, Alec Baldwin has seen his involuntary manslaughter trial for the fatal 2022 shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dismissed today by a New Mexico judge.

“The state has repeatedly made representations to defense and to the court that they were compliant with all their discovery obligations,” said Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer in her ruling from the bench just now. “Despite their repeated representations, they have continued to fail to disclose critical evidence to the defendant.”

“The state is highly culpable for its failure to provide discovery to the defendant,” the judge, added in a measured tone. “Dismissal with prejudice is warranted,” she concluded, ending any hope of the state recharging Baldwin again.

I think most of us here expected Baldwin to be let off scott free.  What I didn't expect was for the prosecution to throw the trial the way they did.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

That's how I view it.

I am not at all happy that Baldwin gets to walk, but I blame the prosecution. If they were so sure this ammunition -- whatever it was and wherever it came from -- had no evidentiary value, then it wouldn't have hurt their case to inform the defense about it. The fact that they hid it certainly suggests that it DID have evidentiary value. Why else would they hide it?

I HATE prosecutors who skirt the rules in the blind pursuit of a conviction. I think there was enough to easily convict Baldwin. To have the case dismissed over something like this in inexcusable.

Quoted for truth.

In a true and just world every person on the prosecution team who played fast and loose with the evidentiary rules and issues would be looking for a non-legal job on Monday morning.
