That's how I view it.

I am not at all happy that Baldwin gets to walk, but I blame the prosecution. If they were so sure this ammunition -- whatever it was and wherever it came from -- had no evidentiary value, then it wouldn't have hurt their case to inform the defense about it. The fact that they hid it certainly suggests that it DID have evidentiary value. Why else would they hide it?

A possibiity:  because The Fix Was In and they wanted to provide an excuse for a later mistrial or even a dismissal... which happened.  Just another branch on this weed.

Quote
I HATE prosecutors who skirt the rules in the blind pursuit of a conviction. I think there was enough to easily convict Baldwin. To have the case dismissed over something like this in inexcusable.

Agreed, but see above "possibility" remark.

Quoted for truth.

In a true and just world every person on the prosecution team who played fast and loose with the evidentiary rules and issues would be looking for a non-legal job on Monday morning.

In that true and just and fair and equitable world, they'd be looking at their cell doors slamming shut on Monday morning.  And if The Fix isn't any wider, one would hope the new DA would be willing to go after the old DA.

Back to lecturing us about the evils of guns because, you know, this would have never happened if it wasn't for a gun.

Now Baldwin can get back to business and release the film he was trying to make when that stupid girl got in the way of his bullet. With all the free publicity, he may even get his money back.
Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God?

Speaking of money
It's not completely over for Alec as there is still an ongoing wrongful death suit because someone didn't get their agreed upon money to settle it.

Quote
Still, with the agreed upon funds due to the Hutchins estate having not been paid by the Rust team as scheduled, and now months and months behind, this could get very messy for Baldwin again, sources tell me. As it is, the early 2022 filed wrongful death suit is actually still open in the New Mexico courts as various defendants and insurance companies continue to bicker in the docket.

Quote
The idea was the wrongful death suit from Hutchins would be dismissed once the settlement was approved by a Land of Enchantment judge — which it was formally done on June 1 last year.

However, the Hutchins never received the money they were supposed to in a timely fashion soon afterwards. That seems to be part due to disputes Rust Movie Productions has with insurance company Chubb. The lack of payments for the past year to the Hutchins estate also is connected to the nearly $1.6 million in New Mexico tax incentives that Rust was awarded.

If they withheld evidence from Baldwin's team, what are the possibilities of the armorer filing an appeal for the same reasons?

I figure her petition for dismissal and a new trial will be filed Monday morning. Taking into account how bad they screwed the pooch with Baldwin I would expect to see her prevail for a new trial at least.

Since the same judge who ran the armorer's trial was running this trial, I don't see any option other than to vacate her conviction and set her free. Which will remove the felony conviction from her record, allowing her to play with guns again.

Yeah ... that doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.
