Is there concrete evidence that cartels are even regularly using .50s anywhere on the North American continent, or were there just a couple of incidents somewhere? Or none at all?

Not that it should have anything to do with gun laws in the US. I'm just wondering how they are coming up with the .50/cartels bogeyman.

Good question. Finding a definitive answer to that without all the smoke and mirrors thrown up by the gun ban lobby getting in the way is going to be tough though

Can't spend any time digging into that right now but speaking of smoke and mirrors within a few seconds came with sites with lists of crimes being committed in the US with 50 cals. A quick scan showed most if not all were incidences were where someone committing a crime also happened to own/process a 50 cal. So yeah, they counting those incidences as a crime committed with a 50cal. There weren't many such incidences but smoke and mirrors indeed.

If someone really wanted to stop arming cartels, maybe they should start with eliminating the people who intentionally arm them, like the ATF.

But that's none of my business.

Are You Compensating? Peer Reviewed Study Proves Insecure Men LESS Likely To Own Guns!!!   AR15.com

...the study.  The quotes are from the abstract.   =)
Size Matters? Penis Dissatisfaction and Gun Ownership in America
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/15579883241255830

Quote
In this study, we formally examine the association between penis size dissatisfaction and gun ownership in America. The primary hypothesis, derived from the psychosexual theory of gun ownership, asserts that men who are more dissatisfied with the size of their penises will be more likely to personally own guns.
..................
We find that men who are more dissatisfied with the size of their penises are less likely to personally own guns across outcomes, including any gun ownership, military-style rifle ownership, and total number of guns owned.
..................
Our findings fail to support the psychosexual theory of gun ownership.

Gavin Newsom's proposed 28th Amendment (essentially repealing the 2nd Amendment) is off to a roaring start:

Sure, but you know damn well that anti-gun types would be spreading this all over if it had said the opposite.

He is kind of right, I mean who needs a "200 shell magazine"? If you are going that big you may as well go belt fed and take the magazine out of the equation. ;)

That is a funny photo.  As well when you realize all the mags are clamped together side to side and not end to end.

Did a search to see if anyone had done a 200rd mag meme and that popped up. Thought it was funny.

Can you say POS? I knew you could.
Could only get 25 rounds loaded and the floor plate would fly off

In addition to that 90 rounder there was a 100 rounder that was actually being sold. Reportedly they worked about as well as you would expect

There other helical mags out there including the one famously use on the Calico

^^^

There's a domestically produced kit to turn your 9mm AK into a helical mag.  Too rich for me, and I'm not an AK guy, but it's pretty neat.

ETA:  Here you go, I know I saw it the other day:  https://stincusa.com/product/pre-order-stizon-pp-19-bizon-kit-for-9mm-ak  I guess there's a Russian version too, from the description.

Interesting
Still in development and the pre-order window has closed. The $299 price was for pre-orders.
Wonder what the release price will be?

Q. How many rounds does the mag hold?
A. We're not entirely sure

Quote
How many rounds will the mag hold?

The CAI NAK 9 and 9S will hold 66-69 rounds.

The PSA AKV will hold 56-59 rounds.

We’re still in the process of optimizing the followers, so the round count may change before final production.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv3VC4B4Dw4

There are drum magazines for AKs that hold 75 rounds with one in the chamber.  They use a wind-up spring to feed the ammo.

Yes we know but they're not nearly as goofy looking or as fun to watch people trying to get them to work. With many of these totally impractical over the top mags there's a certain fun factor and how silly they look just adds to it.
