The Surgeon General has released an advisory declaring gun violence a public health crisis.

Well, that didn't open up the floodgates for misuse and weaponization of Red Flag laws now, did it?

No it's not but some are thinking there's now a chance it will pass and the SC ruling may have given it a little nudge

Palmetto State Armory among others are being sue for a shotgun that it is claimed exploded as the shooter was chambering a round.
Apparently he and a lawyer group (Freedom) are going after not only the gun's manufacturer (Rock Island), but also the ammo manufacturer (Blackwater Worldwide), the online retailer of the ammo (Tactical *expletive deleted*it), and the seller of the shotgun (PSA)

It should be noted there was a recall of the ammo. Not clear if the recall occurred before or after the mentioned incident

Oh and the article then goes on to throw in PSA's supposed ties to republican politics and even manages to drag Trump into this. Yeah, they went there.

That is some serious TDS on display there.

Know anything about that lawyer group? Google wasn't much help.

Starting 01JUL, all California gun purchases via credit card are being tracked, similar to that national scheme that seems to be mostly on hold now. Apparently Colorado and New York are already doing this as well. Cash is king!

This has been around for a while as there was a meme from a couple of years ago where "Bite-Me" was trying to emulate the ChiComs and the way they treat their "people" (NOT citizens !).

Report from Mrgunsngear on a credit union in Idaho who sent out a terms of service notice listing (among other things) guns and ammo as items customers were prohibited from buying with that credit union's credit card.

https://youtu.be/__oxIcqbI1E

What kind of a moron business would do that in a state like Idaho of all places? They have since changed their TOS to "illegal items". That's after a *expletive deleted*it ton of customers rushed to the bank after the story broke and canceled their accounts.

This seems especially stupid since, and I don't remember the exact language, but we recently passed a state law that expressly prohibited any financial institutions from tracking or otherwise interfering in legal activities, specifically because of that whole credit card industry "guns and ammo" purchasing tracking thing that seemed to have backfired on them as well.

I was wondering if the terms of service was something the leadership all read and agreed upon or they got what they thought was a generic "terms of service" from someone else and didn't read it properly.  Either way, the leadership looks like activists or they don't pay attention to the details.  Neither are people I want managing my money.

All it takes is one activist employee to slip something like that in that in the hope no one in the higher up management chain notices.

BREAKING NEWS: ATF Destroyed In Court! Forced Reset Trigger Rule VACATED!!!
Guns & Gadgets 2nd Amendment News

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yCglcFI7oc

In case you would rather read than watch.

https://www.ammoland.com/2024/07/atf-defeated-court-rules-forced-reset-trigger-ban-unconstitutional/?#axzz8h0Z9K4NL

Key Points:

Quote
Exceeding Authority: The court found that the ATF had acted beyond its statutory authority in redefining FRTs as machineguns. The judge emphasized that only Congress has the power to change statutory definitions.

APA Violation: The ruling referenced the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), highlighting that the ATF’s actions violated this federal statute by overstepping its regulatory boundaries.

Standing: The court rejected the ATF’s argument that the plaintiffs did not have standing to sue, affirming the legitimacy of the claims brought by NAGR and Rare Breed Triggers.

Injunction: The court issued a broad injunction preventing the ATF from enforcing its classification of FRTs as machineguns. This includes halting criminal prosecutions and civil actions based on the now-vacated definition.

4th circuit rules "Assault Weapons" not covered by the 2A

Quote
On Tuesday the en banc decision in Bianchi v. Brown was released, and as expected, the Fourth Circuit declared that Maryland's gun ban is perfectly compatible with the Constitution, because none of the dozens of firearms banned by name, and the hundreds of models banned by feature, are protected by the language of the Second Amendment.

James Reeves looks at can gun accessories make things worse for you in court.
Turns out some states even state as much in many of their laws. Lasers for example in Illinois 07:09
He cites one case where just owning a laser, and not even using, was used against a man in CA

I don't remember if it is just the City of Chicago or the entirety of Cook County that bans possession of lasers.

As per the WSJ, liberals are buying guns.
They see the rise in crime and know the police won't protect them.  Even if many won't admit the same.

Crime and armed right-wing extremists according to the article with the article leading more to the latter than the former as the reason.

When I can stand it, I look at the Idaho reddit subs, and there is a good bit of lgbtqwre4 and "ally" people posting about having or buying guns because of the extremists (and we know who they mean). I have noticed there is more "we have to take them out" talk than there is "we have to defend ourselves" talk.

Also there are often questions about which gun shops and ranges are woke and accepting and "don't push the don't tread on me culture".

When you got much of the MSM pushing the narrative of MAGA white christian males roaming the land shooting gays, trans, and blacks on sight and that's it's only going to get worse when Adolf Trump over throws democracy I'm not surprised.

Seriously whats the ratio of left wings nuts to right wing nuts in shootings? 10-1? 20-1? 30-1?
The only one I can think of off the top of my head was that kid in the SC(?) church shooting and I know there was a racial component to the shooting but what were his actual politics?
Meanwhile the MSM labels nearly every shooting right wing.
